Session 6

Voices from the Youth: Global Issues that We Need to Fix Urgently

Saturday, 2 September 2023

15:15 - 16:15 (GMT+7)

Throughout history, youths have served as agents of change across sectors– politics and government, business and industry, the academe and civil society. According to Our World in Data, out of the 8 billion people in the world, half are under age 30: we are now experiencing a global bonus demographic that offers an opportunity to unleash the potential of the youth. Unfortunately, the youth is still under-represented in parliaments and their role is still undermined by their elders. The latest survey from Our World in Data showed that 70% of respondents felt that young people should have more say and that the role and idealism of the youth should not be undermined

The session titled "Voices from the Youth: Global Issues that We Need to Fix Urgently" aims to present the perspective of the youth from different regions on the most pressing issues facing the world and their generation, and to explore ways in which the youth can maintain their idealism and contribute to solving these issues.
